LeitnerBoxxer

A custom Leitner schedule generator

The Leitner Box is a proven learning strategy for memorising things such as vocabulary and other knowledge that is aquired by repetition. It uses flash cards and a physical box with numbered compartments to help maximise efficiency in directing attention to the hardest items the most while still retaining practice time on the easier items.

The traditional Leitner schedule is a 65 day cycle, but this cycle is way too long in many practical situations (like homework assignments). A teaching colleague introduced me to the Leitnerbox system and asked for help in designing a flexible Leitner Box schedule. The result is this little tool that I’ve released on Github: LeitnerBoxxer. It’s a simple and easy way to generate an efficient Leitner schedule for any number of days between 5 and 65. The resulting schedule can be exported to be printed and put on the physical Leitnerbox for reference.
